25 March 1821

Many thanks to Jaimie and Johnathan, who together with staff member, Mary Stratopoulos, represented Pythagoras Greek School at this year's Commemoration Service marking Greek Independence Day. The service took place at the Shrine of Remembrance and was attended by a small group of dignitaries, clergy, community representatives, teachers and students.

The 25th of March is a public holiday in Greece which honours the Greek Revolution of 1821 and the Feast of the Annunciation. It is a time that Greeks come together to acknowledge those brave men and women who sacrificed their lives so that Greece may be a free, independent nation. Is also reminds us of our connection to the Greek Orthodox faith with all its rich history, customs and feast days.
